BidScientific's Privacy Policy

BidScientific Privacy Policy

(Updated June 12, 2016)

BidScientific is committed to protecting your privacy. BidScientific have prepared this Privacy Policy to describe to you BidScientific practices regarding the Personal Data (as defined below) BidScientific collect from users of BidScientific website, located at www.bidscientific.com and BidScientific widgets (collectively, the “Site”) and online services (“Services”).

BidScientific vows never to share your private personal information with other users without your explicit permission nor to sell your information to any third parties.  BidScientific will, however, keep a copy of your information on its servers (using industry standard security practices) to better enhance the experience of all of BidScientific users.

Security of Your Personal Data. BidScientific is committed to protecting the security of your Personal Data. BidScientific uses a variety of industry-standard security technologies and procedures to help protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. BidScientific also requires you to enter a password to access your Account information. Please do not disclose your Account password to unauthorized people. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while BidScientific uses reasonable efforts to protect your Personal Data, BidScientific cannot guarantee its absolute security.

General Use of Your Personal Data. In general, Personal Data you submit to us is used either to respond to requests that you make, or to aid us in serving you better. BidScientific uses your Personal Data in the following ways:  to facilitate the creation of and secure your Account on BidScientific network; to identify you as a user in BidScientific system; to provide improved administration of BidScientific Site and Services; to provide the Services you request; to improve the quality of experience when you interact with BidScientific Site and Services; to send you a welcome e-mail to verify ownership of the e-mail address provided when your Account was created; to send you administrative e-mail notifications, such as security, or support and maintenance advisories; to respond to your inquiries related to employment opportunities or other requests; to make telephone calls to you, from time to time, as a part of secondary fraud protection or to solicit your feedback; and to send newsletters, surveys, offers, and other promotional materials related to BidScientific Services and for other marketing purposes of BidScientific.

Creation of Anonymous Data. BidScientific may create Anonymous Data records from Personal Data by excluding information (such as your name) that makes the data personally identifiable to you. BidScientific use this Anonymous Data to analyze request and usage patterns so that BidScientific may enhance the content of BidScientific Services and improve Site navigation. BidScientific reserves the right to use Anonymous Data for any purpose and disclose Anonymous Data to third parties in BidScientific’s sole discretion.

User Consent. By submitting Personal Data through BidScientific Site or Services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and you expressly consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

A Note to Users Outside of the United States. If you are a non-U.S. user of the Site, by visiting the Site and providing us with data, you acknowledge and agree that your Personal Data may be processed for the purposes identified in the Privacy Policy. In addition, your Personal Data may be processed in the country in which it was collected and in other countries, including the United States, where laws regarding processing of Personal Data may be less stringent than the laws in your country. By providing your data, you consent to such transfer.

Types of Data BidScientific Collect. “Personal Data” means data that allows someone to identify or contact you, including, for example, your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, as well as any other non-public information about you that is associated with or linked to any of the foregoing data. “Anonymous Data” means data that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Data; Anonymous Data does not, by itself, permit the identification of individual persons. BidScientific collect Personal Data and Anonymous Data.  BidScientific may collect Personal Data from you, such as your first and last name, gender, e-mail and mailing addresses, professional title, BidScientific name, and password when you create an account to log in to BidScientific network (“Account”).  If you use BidScientific Services on your mobile device, including through BidScientific Application(s), BidScientific may collect your phone number and the unique device id number.  If you tell us where you are (e.g., by allowing your mobile device to send us your location), BidScientific may store and use that information to provide you with location-based information and advertising. If you want to deactivate this feature, you can either reinstall the Application(s) or deactivate GPS on your mobile device.  BidScientific mobile homepage lets you store preferences like your location, safe search settings, and favorite widgets. BidScientific may associate these choices with your ID or the mobile device, and you can edit these preferences at any time on BidScientific mobile homepage.  When connecting to BidScientific Services via a service provider that uniquely identifies your mobile device, BidScientific may receive this identification and use it to offer extended services and/or functionality.  Certain Services may require BidScientific collection of your phone number. BidScientific may associate that phone number to your mobile device identification information.  When you order products or services on BidScientific website, BidScientific will collect all information necessary to complete the transaction, including your name, credit card information, billing information and shipping information. This information may be shared with third parties who help process and fulfill your purchases. When you submit credit card numbers, BidScientific encrypts that information using industry standard technology.  BidScientific retains information on your behalf, such as files and messages that you store using your Account.  If you provide us feedback or contact us via e-mail, BidScientific will collect your name and e-mail address, as well as any other content included in the e-mail, in order to send you a reply.  When you post content (text, images, photographs, messages, comments or any other kind of content that is not your e-mail address) on the BidScientific Site, the information contained in your posting will be stored in BidScientific servers and other users will be able to see it, along with your profile photo and any other information that you choose to make public on your public profile page (“Profile”). The information that you provide in your Profile will be visible to others, including anonymous visitors to the Site.  When you post messages on the message boards of the BidScientific Site, the information contained in your posting will be stored on the BidScientific servers and other users will be able to see it.  When you participate in one of BidScientific’s surveys, BidScientific may collect additional profile information.  BidScientific also collects other types of Personal Data that you provide to us voluntarily, such as your operating system and version, product registration number, and other requested information if you contact us via e-mail regarding support for the Services.  If you participate in a promotion, contest or giveaway on the BidScientific Site, BidScientific may ask you for your e-mail address and/or home number (to notify you if you win or not). BidScientific may also ask for first and last names, and sometimes post office addresses to verify your identity. In some situations BidScientific may need additional information as a part of the entry process, such as a prize selection choice. These promotion and contests are voluntary. BidScientific recommends that you read the rules for each promotion and contest that you enter.  BidScientific may also collect Personal Data, such as at other points in the BidScientific Site that state that Personal Data is being collected.

Information Collected by BidScientific Servers. BidScientific servers (which may be hosted by a third party service provider) collect information from you, including your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address (a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet, which may vary from session to session), domain name, and/or a date/time stamp for your visit.

Log Files. As is true of most websites, BidScientific gathers certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes IP addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (“ISP”), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. BidScientific uses this information to analyze trends, administer the Site, track users’ movements around the Site, gather demographic information about BidScientific user base as a whole, and better tailor BidScientific Services to BidScientific users’ needs. For example, some of the information may be collected so that when you visit the Site or the Services again, it will recognize you and the information could then be used to serve advertisements and other information appropriate to your interests. Except as noted in this Privacy Policy, BidScientific does not link this automatically-collected data to Personal Data.

Cookies. Like many online services, BidScientific uses cookies to collect information. “Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive while you are viewing the website. BidScientific may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on the BidScientific Site. This type of information is collected to make the Site more useful to you and to tailor the experience with us to meet your special interests and needs.

Pixel Tags. In addition, BidScientific uses “Pixel Tags”(also referred to as clear Gifs, web beacons, or web bugs). Pixel Tags are tiny graphic images with a unique identifier, similar in function to Cookies, that are used to track online movements of web users. In contrast to Cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, Pixel Tags are embedded invisibly in web pages. Pixel Tags also allow us to send e-mail messages in a format users can read, and they tell us whether e-mails have been opened to ensure that BidScientific is sending only messages that are of interest to BidScientific users. BidScientific may use this information to reduce or eliminate messages sent to a user. BidScientific does not tie the information gathered by Pixel Tags to BidScientific users’ Personal Data.

Collection of Data by Advertisers. BidScientific may also use third parties to serve ads on the Site. Certain third parties may automatically collect information about your visits to this and other websites, your IP address, your ISP, the browser you use to visit BidScientific Site (but not your name, address, e-mail address or telephone number). They do this by using Cookies, Pixel Tags or other technologies. Information collected may be used, among other things, to deliver advertising targeted to your interests and to better understand the usage and visitation of BidScientific Site and the other sites tracked by these third parties. This policy does not apply to, and BidScientific is not responsible for, Cookies or Pixel Tags in third party ads, and BidScientific encourages you to check the privacy policies of advertisers and/or ad services to learn about their use of Cookies and other technologies.

How BidScientific Respond to Do Not Track Signals. BidScientific does not currently respond to “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that might enable consumers to opt out of tracking on BidScientific Site.

Google Analytics. BidScientific uses Google Analytics to help analyze how users use the Site. Google Analytics uses Cookies to collect information such as how often users visit the Site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to the Site. BidScientific uses the information BidScientific gets from Google Analytics only to improve the BidScientific Site and Services. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit the Site, rather than your name or other personally identifying information. BidScientific does not combine the information generated through the use of Google Analytics with your Personal Data. Although Google Analytics plants a persistent Cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit the Site, the Cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to the Site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

User Reviews. BidScientific often receives reviews and comments from users who have had positive experiences with BidScientific Services or products sold on the BidScientific website. BidScientific occasionally publishes such content. When BidScientific publishes this content, BidScientific may identify BidScientific users by their first and last name and may also indicate their home city. BidScientific obtains the user’s consent prior to posting his or her name along with the testimonial. BidScientific may post user feedback on the Site from time to time. BidScientific will share your feedback with your first name and last initial only. If BidScientific chooses to post your first and last name along with your feedback, BidScientific will obtain your consent prior to posting you name with your feedback. If you make any comments on a blog or forum associated with BidScientific Site, you should be aware that any Personal Data you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. BidScientific is not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these blogs and forums.

(a) Third Parties Designated by You. When you use the Services, the Personal Data you provide will be shared with the third parties that you designate to receive such information, including other websites, your friends, relatives and business associates. BidScientific may share some or all of your Personal Data in connection with or during negotiation of any merger, financing, acquisition or dissolution, transaction or proceeding involving sale, transfer, divestiture, or disclosure of all or a portion of BidScientific business or assets. In the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership, Personal Data may also be transferred as a business asset. If another entity acquires BidScientific, BidScientific business, or assets, that entity will possess the Personal Data collected by us and will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Data as described in this Privacy Policy.

(e) Disclosure to Third Party Companies. BidScientific may enter into agreements with companies that provide BidScientific Services by way of a co-branded or private-labeled website or companies that offer their products and/or services on the BidScientific website (“Third Party Companies”). A Third Party BidScientific may want access to Personal Data that BidScientific collects from its customers. As a result, BidScientific may disclose your Personal Data to a Third Party entity; however, BidScientific will not disclose your Personal Data to any Third Party entity for the Third Party entity’s own direct marketing purposes, unless you have “opted-in” by following the instructions BidScientific provides to allow such disclosure. If you have opted-in to receive e-mail communications from a Third Party entity and later wish to discontinue receipt of these e-mails, please contact the Third Party entity directly to update your preferences. The privacy policies of these Third Party Companies may apply to the use and disclosure of your Personal Data that BidScientific collects and discloses to such Third Party Companies. Because BidScientific does not control the privacy practices of BidScientific Third Party entities, you should read and understand their privacy policies.

(f) Public Profile. Certain portions of the information you provide to us may also be displayed in your Profile. As an essential element of the Services, most of the Personal Data you explicitly provide to us when you register or update your Profile is displayed on your Profile. Your photos, posts, and other content you post to the Site are also meant for public consumption. BidScientific may display this content on the Site, and further distribute it to a wider audience through third party sites and services. Once displayed on publicly viewable web pages, that information can be collected and used by others. BidScientific cannot control who reads your posting or what other users may do with the information that you voluntarily post, so it is very important that you do not put Personal Data in your posts. Once you have posted information publicly, while you will still be able to edit and delete it on the Site, you will not be able to edit or delete such information cached, collected, and stored elsewhere by others (e.g., search engines).

(g) Other Disclosures. Regardless of any choices you make regarding your Personal Data (as described below), BidScientific may disclose Personal Data if it believes in good faith that such disclosure is necessary (a) in connection with any legal investigation; (b) to comply with relevant laws or to respond to subpoenas or warrants served on BidScientific; (c) to protect or defend the rights or property of BidScientific or users of the Site or Services; (d) to investigate or assist in preventing any violation or potential violation of the law, this Privacy Policy, or BidScientific Terms of Use; and/or (e) to third party suppliers of products.

Third Party Websites. The BidScientific Site may contain links to third party websites. When you click on a link to any other website or location, you will leave BidScientific Site and go to another site and another entity may collect Personal Data or Anonymous Data from you. BidScientific has no control over, do not review, and cannot be responsible for, these outside websites or their content. Please be aware that the terms of this Privacy Policy do not apply to these outside websites or content, or to any collection of your Personal Data after you click on links to such outside websites. The links to third party websites or locations are for your convenience and do not signify BidScientific endorsement of such third parties or their products, content websites.
