Descritpion: Serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK1, also known as polo-like kinase 1 (PLK-1) or serine/threonine-protein kinase 13 (STPK13), is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PLK1 (polo-like kinase 1) gene. Plk protein accumulates in the cell during the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle and both protein content and catalytic activity peak at the onset of mitosis, followed by a rapid reduction after mitosis. Plk expression is detectable in mitotically active tissues such as colon and placenta, as well as in tumors of various origins. It has also been suggested that Plk may serve as a marker of cell proliferation.
Research Areas: Cancer, Cell Biology, Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling
Applications: WB,ELISA
Recommended Dilutions: WB 1:500-1:2000, ELISA 1:20000
Size: 200 uL
Concentration: 1mg/mL
Swissprot: P53350
Gene Accession:
Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
Host: Rabbit
Isotype: IgG
Immunogen: Synthesized peptide derived from human Plk1 around the non-phosphorylation site of Ser137.
Formulation: PBS with 0.02% sodium azide, 0.5% BSA and 50% glycerol, pH7.4
Purification: Affinity purification
Conjugation: Unconjugated
Calculated MW: 68kDa
Tissue Specificity/Positive Control: Placenta and colon.
Cellular Localization: Nucleus. Chromosome>centromere>kinetochore. Cytoplasm>cytoskeleton>centrosome. During early stages of mitosis, the phosphorylated form is detected on centrosomes and kinetochores. Localizes to the outer kinetochore. Presence of SGOL1 and interaction with the phosphorylated form of BUB1 is required for the kinetochore localization.
Storage: Store at -20C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles.
